Retrospective
Over a 30-year career as an illustrator, Oren was one of the most important graphic illustrators of the 1980s and ‘90s
His gouache paintings and flat color style, influenced by classic poster art, was a precursor to the digital art that followed. He made his mark on annual reports and corporate work with a sleek graphic look and distinctive pastel palette, creating major campaigns for clients including Mobil Oil, PepsiCo, the US Postal Pervice, the US Mint, Visa, Steuben Glass, Hermes, Burger King, and many more. L.L. Bean honored his work as among their all time best cover art. His work has been published and circulated close to a billion times.
“I learned a lot from being an illustrator,” Oren says. “To develop concepts quickly and make artwork for the many tiers of the client, the art director, and the end-use audience. Ultimately, the most valuable skill an artist can have is the ability to tell a story.”
